People have a hard time “figuring us out”. Our best advice is to “flip it”, as in flip your understanding of what life in Christ and in His Body looks like. We are a people on a journey… seeking God to flip us...
- ...from keeping to giving
- ...from appeasing people to equipping them
- ...from “rights-based” membership to covenant love
- ...from harmless sincerity to lethal, Spirit-dependent and empowered influence
- ...from creeds to deeds
The Storehouse is about a lifestyle that gives you more to give (in time, talent and treasure), and directs that giving toward investments that provide the most return in eternal rewards. The Storehouse gives 70% of our budget to the poor and outside our organization.
“And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,” expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” - Luke 6:33-35
The Storehouse chose a grain elevator as our symbol deliberately. Like a farming community’s grain storehouse, we can help you build your seed stock, process your harvest, coach you how to farm better, and even direct you to where there’s good land waiting to be cultivated. However, in the end you are the farmer, and it is your responsibility to tend the fields God has given you. It is our joy to help you tend to your vineyard, and empower you to help others tend to theirs.
“His master replied, ‘well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” - Matthew 25:21
We have more in common with an expedition base camp than we do with most churches, (or house churches, for that matter).
“Come, follow me.” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men” Matt 4:19.
We are not about your fellowship as much as we are about your fruitfulness and maturity.
“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Eph. 4:11-13
