Preaching at the Lincoln Bike Show

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Good time at the Lincoln Bike Show.  Met a lot of friends from across the state of Nebraska.  Also, met some new ones and made new contacts.  Preached Sunday morning to a crowd of around 100.  Kevin closed after I preached, and they didn’t come forward, so I don’t know results.  All I do know is that I laid it out there and now they have no excuse.  Held nothing back.  Even had the Hell’s Angels start coming in the back door during my sermon.  So I got a little louder (if that’s possible) when they arrived.  To God be the Glory.  Great things he has done.  More later.

The Missional Nature of the Storehouse

Friday, February 20th, 2009

thoughts by Kathy Harmon:

“At our leaders meeting, as Eric led the discussion about the mission/call of The Storehouse, I watched a very unique, special thing happen.  As leaders shared their vision for The Storehouse, the question was asked - “Where do we refer individuals who we feel would be blessed by the vision and structure of The Storehouse?”.  The Lord spoke sweetly, sovereignly, and unified:  The purpose of The Storehouse is missional in nature.  The groups that have come under their covering each have a specific call, mission, and outreach - e.g. reaching & caring for artists in our community, reaching out to the poor &/or street folks, prayer, responding to emergencies in our nation & around the world, etc.  This is a little different than the definition I had for a home church and it allowed me to say, “You know the Simple Church I (I repeat I) was trying to do wasn’t working.  I ask yours (& the Lord’s) forgiveness for allowing my voice to be silenced due to a lack of hunger, humility & obedience.

Prayer for Healing

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

All,

This is a personal prayer request from me for my wife and I.  It seems we are going through a period of time when we need a lot of prayers for physical healing.

Judy has a knee replacement scheduled for March 2nd.  This will be the first of having both knees replaced.  She has had problems with blood clots in the past and we are concerned as she undergoes this procedure.  Pray that all goes well.

I am still trying to recover from the motorcycle accident that happened in California last August.  My left rotator cuff was repaired after the accident and I have been having pain in my left arm area and swelling that the doctors say is related to the accident.  I am having pain in the right arm as well and now have scheduled an MRI to look at a potential right shoulder rotator cuff injury.

Additionally, I will be having an operation to remove a 9 cm tumor from the left side of my neck.  This surgery will be scheduled for early May.

Thanks for your prayers.  I know Jesus is the Great Physician and has already provided for our healing.  I welcome His visit to us and the confirmation of His healing in our bodies.

Unfiltered Thoughts on Worship & God

Monday, February 16th, 2009

by Steph Pennington

I am on a quest.  I feel like my inner man longs to discover the treasure of worshiping in spirit and truth. He lives in me……so His presence is embodied in my being– I long for His habitation in my praise…in our unified praise…When I am pursuing the Lord musically, I am looking for the movement of His Spirit– I look for it everywhere…other musicians, their instruments ~ drums, guitar, bass, keys, vocals, percussion…I look for it in a dance ~ a rhythm ~ a vision ~ a shout ~ the Word proclaimed ~ color ~ sounds of the people of God…revelation, repentance, rejoicing together in a new sound…

His movement reveals the pathway to the inner chambers of the heart of God…We carry His presence ~ the movement of His Spirit unlocks the hidden places for those who abandon their longings to the longings of…..GodHis glory and dimension of eternity are always alive and real—-it’s right here—-it’s through the veil ~ the membrane of realities…

I listen for the move of His Spirit….We all need to listen for the Spirit of God ~ active surrenderWe listen with our hunger…We listen with our longing… with eternity within us ~ the space between the temporal reality, that expands as we breathe in the holy, the pure, the Lord…

As I listen for the Spirit of God to move somewhere >> then that person or people need to flow with God and release what the Spirit is stirring within them…the atmosphere changes ~ people experience eternal realities…they experience God!  Revelation is released….false mindsets are exposed….baptisms take place…. baptism of love. of grace. of empowering. of mercy. of conviction….Worship is not an emotion, but it can involve all of our senses.  It is not a choice of the will, but a position of the heart.  We need to give the Lord permission and access to the landscape of our inner man….. when we give Him access and permission to this landscape, the Spirit of God can reveal Himself to our understanding and our immediate response is worship.

Our immediate response is worship….

January 2009 - EACH ONE

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

We are “widening the aperture of participation” during our monthly tribal gatherings during 2009.

What does that mean?  It means each one of us should come ready to participate:

“… you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Cor. 12:27

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” 1 Cor. 12:7

“to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.”  Eph 4:7

“…each one heard them [tongue-speakers] speaking in his own language” Acts 2:6 (God speaks to all of us in ways we can understand)

“…each one should be careful how he builds” 1 Cor. 3:10  (We all have an assignment to build His kingdom)

he gives [spiritual gifts] to each one, just as he determines” 1 Cor. 12:11

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” 1 Peter 4:10

“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income…” (Everyone gives )-         “Each one should test his own actions  … each one should carry his own load.”  Gal. 6:4

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”  2 Cor. 5:10

If the Storehouse is about anything, it’s about upending everything so that the fullness of the body of Christ will be manifested - as each one is encouraged, empowered and equipped to go forth and be a Kingdom Distribution Agent in the incredibly unique, powerful, and Christ-exalting way she or he was designed.   And our tribal gatherings are to be reflections of this kingdom reality … so bring your testimony, your song, your poetry and prose, your dance, a Scripture, your money, whatever gift He gives you to bring.

Recently one of us had a prophetic impression about what the Lord is doing in our midst at The Storehouse: “Storehouse is the assembling of an orchestra, a symphony- This symphony has never been put together…we don’t know the sound it is supposed to make, the sound it creates is music never before heard….music that is designed to appeal to our Father, music that will reverberate off the Heavenlies and resound into the earth.  Don’t be distracted with the assembling  process….don’t miss what I’m doing,  I am building an overture in front of your very eyes…more glorious than can be seen or understood.

Our goal is that each one in our midst will grow in revelation of the above truths during 2009 … (“Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” Rom. 14:5) and as this common grace increases, our common good will increase, and an irresistible manifestation of the love of Christ will ring forth.  Let the music of this new symphony resound, reverberate and shake the foundations of the enemy’s strongholds!
