Each one should test his own actions

My seven year old was given a portion of Galations 6:4-5 to read at church a few months ago. “Each one should test his own actions . . . each one should carry his own load.” We explained the meaning to him. Then, he took it upon himself to memorize it and has a copy of it by his school desk.
Recently, we were listening to the news on the radio regarding the high number of people losing their jobs. My son asked me why so many people were losing their jobs. I explained that there were people who run companies and government offices that had made bad money decisions. These decisions affected many things. So, many companies were unable to pay their workers, therefore, they had to dismiss those workers. My son replied, ”Why didn’t they test their own actions?”
I did a double take and told him that some people don’t believe in God, or learn from the Bible the principles to live by, so they don’t know to test their actions against what the Bible says. I was so blessed that he was able to take what he had learned and apply it to life.
