We will minister to the city by cleaning up an urban escape - Carter Lake. Carter Lake faces many problems from runoff to trash pollution, but it’s also the current site of a large-scale restoration effort. Renovations underway this year have improved water quality from a couple of inches of visibility up to several feet. A fishery restoration and dredging project will take place through this year and next. The shoreline and surrounding park area often suffer from material pollution - everyday trash. By cleaning it up we provide other park-goers with a better reflection of how God created the place, we worship Him by caring for His creation, and we steward fish and wildlife who are harmed or killed by pollution. Finally, we minister to lakeshore homeowners and the park’s one steward who are truly blessed by this help. It’s also a great opportunity for fellowship, and we’ll wrap up at the end of the day with a lakeside barbecue.
